One SciTech One Future Education Series
“One SciTech One Future Education Series” is devised with the vision of developing the local innovation and technology (I&T) industry’s ecosystem and enhancing the reputation of Hong Kong as an International Innovation and Technology Hub.
The series aim to strengthen digital literacy of local underprivileged P5-P6 students aged 10-12. Young generations and interested public will be induced to develop their SciTech careers in the industry through public participation.
I. Code Art Classes - School Tour
For the past 5 years, Y-LOT has focused on primary schools located in underprivileged districts. We actively organize Code Art Classes, nurturing the interest and potential of underprivileged students for the I&T industry.
By providing the latest out-of-school STEAM curriculum, these workshops have emphasized the interesting combination of Coding and Art, aiming to ignite curiosity in the SciTech world of over 7,000 underprivileged students in 29 primary schools.
II. Code Art Exhibition AND WORKSHOP
Our Code Art Exhibition is where creativity meets coding in a fusion of imagination and digital literacy. Visited by over 900,000 guests, the Code Art Exhibitions at the Central Market showcase the creative digital artworks created by primary students with JavaScript.
Furthermore, Y-LOT has hosted free public workshops to inspire over 680 underprivileged children and their parents to unveil the mystery of Coding and Art.
III. SciTech Tour
Y-LOT has successfully organized Local SciTech Tours for many underprivileged children to visit the HKUST “Fei Chi En Dream Team Open Lab”, which is named after our Founder and Chairman.
During these tours, they witnessed the remarkable achievements of undergraduate teams participating in international competitions. In addition, we have arranged STEAM tours for hundreds of underprivileged children to visit the Hong Kong Palace Museum, aiming to promote the integration of “Art” and “SciTech” in STEAM education and foster their creativity and innovation.
IV. Hong Kong SciTech Pioneers Lecture Series
Walking into 19 primary and secondary schools located in underprivileged districts, Y-LOT’s Lecture Series aims to propel students’ career and life planning while elevating their academic aspirations in the STEAM field.
Y-LOT has invited various industry leaders, seasoned professionals, and startup entrepreneurs, including a Gold Medalist and a Silver Medalist at the 48th and 49th International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva respectively, to share their stories of pursuing SciTech dreams, inspiring over 9,400 students to be the next SciTech pioneers!
